Eco-friendly tips for an early Christmas shopping

Xmas1

Oh hello there! Are you feeling the Christmas spirit? Do you already have presents for your loved ones? Better have your Christmas shopping now! Isn’t it hassle-free to buy your Christmas presents in this early moment? Instead of waiting for rush and last minute shopping, running all over the town and putting yourself in crowded places, secure a safe and eco-friendly early Christmas shopping. Yes, an eco-friendly Christmas shopping.

Do you know how to be an eco-friendly shopper? Well, let me give you some tips on how to make your Christmas shopping helpful to our mother earth:

Make a list– Before going to shopping places; make a list of the things you need to buy. This will help avoid wasting gas from commuting or even with your own car, not just that, it will also make you spend less because this will make you stick to your budget. Your loved ones will appreciate more if you give them a well thought present and at the same time bringing no harm to our environment.

Shop in one place– Stop exhausting yourself from walking and running all around shopping places. As much as possible, try to look for a mall or a group of stores where you can buy all you need for presents. It will help to reduce carbon emissions produced from your car, and will lessen time consumption.

Use Eco-bags– Refrain from using the usual plastic bags that will take approximately 500 years or more to decompose, and would contaminate soil, waterways, marine life, and animals upon digestion. Instead, use eco-bags or any reusable shopping bags that you could bring with you every time you shop. There are also lots of shopping malls and stores who sell eco-friendly bags, have it and enjoy your green Christmas shopping.

Shop Online– If you don’t want outdoor shopping, why not try to have your shopping online? There are lots of online shops that give you easy access and convenience.  Aside from the fact that it’s more comfortable and relaxing way to shop, this is also one great way of reducing carbon emissions produced when running around the city to buy your Christmas gifts. One more thing, shopping online would also help you save your time and avoids you from unwanted situations like waiting on long lines and being in a middle of the crowd.

Here you go!  You can enjoy your shopping in an eco-friendly way that’s not just beneficial to our environment but also for us.

Have a Green Merry Christmas!

IDC Chairman speaks at the APHF 5 satellite event in Manila

RVN2

During the recently conducted Asia Pacific Housing Forum 5 satellite event in Manila last 3-4 September, IDC Chairman and COO Architect Romolo Nati talked about “Experiences in Green Buildings” under this year’s APHF theme ‘Building Impact’ following four tracks—Building Leadership, Impacting Communities, Building Markets, and Impacting Society.

The Asia-Pacific Housing Forum is a biennial conference organized by Habitat for Humanity. This year, the Housing Forum’s fifth iteration, the main event was from 1-4 September in Hong Kong while the Philippines held its satellite event on 3-4 September. The forum brought together housing developers engaged in seeking solutions to low-income housing issues that make business and economic sense. It aimed to educate and advocate decent housing as a pivotal tool in eradicating the poverty cycle.

Experiences in Green Buildings

Representing IDC is Arch. Romolo Nati, the chairman and COO of CDO’s premier sustainable condo development, Primavera Residences, who has been invited to the forum as a breakout session speaker. During his talk, he mentioned how nature is the solution to our current issues on the environment.

“There are patterns which can be found behind natural living structures. These processes, when studied and thoroughly examined, can be translated into architectural designs and sustainable solutions. This is known as biomimicry and it has long been in existence, but has simply been overloIoked amid all the new ways of doing things. Making nature as the basis of designing sustainable homes allows IDC to lower energy and resources consumption thereby reducing costs on electricity and water, among others,” Nati said.

IDC believes that nature holds the answer to sustainable design. Taking a cue from Mother Nature herself, the company strives to develop self-sustaining, flood-free, and earthquake-resistant structures which are inspired by the beauty and functionality of nature. These green structures fuse human technology with the best that nature has to offer.

IDC partners with HFHP Pagatpat Housing Project

Last May 2013, Italpinas Development Corporation sealed a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Philippines (HFHP) in support of both organizations’ mission to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.

“Our advocacies complement each other’s vision and mission of providing eco-friendly, sustainable and affordable houses,” Arch. Nati said.

With the signed MOA with HFHP, IDC supported Habitat’s “I Build” Campaign through a donation which funded a specific portion of Habitat’s socialized housing project in Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro.

Italpinas Development Corporation (IDC), the Italian-Filipino green property developer of Primavera Residences, sets its planned listing of P242-million initial public offering (IPO) on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on the last quarter of 2015.

Recently, IDC filed on August 28 an amended prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company plans to raise P242 million from the offering of 57.622 million primary common shares to the public, priced at a maximum of P4.20 per share.

The number of shares to be sold, according to the prospectus, is equivalent to 26% of the company’s outstanding capital stock and 74% is under the names of the current shareholders.

Its major shareholders include Jose Leviste, Jr. (49.67%), Italian architect Romolo Nati (40%) and Jose Leviste III (4.76%).

IPO proceeds will finance Italpinas Development Corporation’s upcoming mixed-use sustainable development in Cagayan de Oro, Primavera City. After Primavera Residences, a new elegant high-rise and eco-friendly building in Cagayan de Oro offers the distinctive quality of living in an Italian-designed building with metropolitan standard development. Primavera City aims to be the landmark in sustainable developments as the combination of natural ventilation, solar energy, external louvers, water recycling, rain harvesting, and other green features exudes the exteriors and interiors of the property.

IDC will have a market capitalization of P930.8 million post-IPO from the current P480.68 million. Unicapital Inc. is appointed as the issue manager and sole underwriter of the transaction.

The expected net proceeds of P220.8 million after listing related expenses and taxes will supply the capital expenditures (capex) for new projects (P120.68 million); land banking acquisition (P47 million); retirement of existing loans (P20 million); and general working capital (P33.12 million). Proceeds of the IPO will be used in the fourth quarter of the year up to 2016.

Primavera Residences EDGE Certification

Recently, Autif Sayyed, Regional Green Building Specialist for the East Asia Pacific Region at International Finance Corporation (IFC), visited Primavera Residences to complete the stages of the building’s EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification as he recognized the building’s outstanding initiation and implementation of the green features.

5 Reasons to Swim this Summer Season

swim-summer

It’s summer time and it is just perfect to indulge yourself with safe and healthier swimming adventure. Swimming is a great recreational activity for people of all ages. Swimming can also provide you with a low-impact workout and it’s also a good way to relax and feel good.

So, get to the pool and dive right in here to learn more about the health benefits of swimming.

  1. Helps you manage your weight

Swimming breaststroke for 30 minutes will burn approximately 367Kcal, depending on your weight and speed. That beats walking, which burns only 99Kcal in the same time, cycling, which uses up 240Kcal in half an hour, and even running at 6mph, which burns 300Kcal.

  1. Better mood and lowered stress levels

No matter what your level, swimming can make you feel better. In America, a study was made involving 100 swimmers and found out that both novice and intermediate swimmers felt significantly less tension, depression, anger and confusion after exercising than before. It may be because swimming, like other forms of exercise, stimulates the release of feel-good hormone serotonin. Also, swimming helps release stress and tension since it helps them feel mentally refreshed.

  1. It is low-impact

Since 90% of your body weight is buoyant when you swim, you only bear 10% of you weight. This allows for greater ease of movement with less strain placed on bones, joints and muscle.

  1. It is sweat-free

Your constant movement when swimming generates up to 85% of your body heat but since water is cooler than your core body temperature, you never feel over-heated of get sweaty because water helps you cool down while you move around.

  1. It is good for your heart

As you swim, the water that surrounds your body exerts pressure which helps your circulatory system return your blood to your heart. According to Zoe Cooper, the demand on your heart is reduced by up to 17 beats per minute or 13% compared to someone execising on land.

In Cagayan de Oro, only Primavera Residences offers all-natural saltwater swimming pool as the first of its kind in Mindanao. It is made even better with a spa seat equipped with two hydrotherapy jets at the deep end.

Located at the 3rd floor of Primavera Residences Tower 1, the 4 X 8 X 1.219 produces its own chlorine through a salt chlorine generator, the most sought after system of alternative pool sanitation today. Through a minimal saline level in the pool water (the equivalent of one teaspoon per gallon of water) and salt conversion cell, it produces the most luxurious, softest feeling water imaginable – everyday, the natural way.

When it comes to beaches, springs, adventure parks, and a whole lot of escapades, Mindanao, the second largest chunk in the Philippine Archipelago, is the haven you’ve been looking for. One of its provinces is endowed with scenic places and natural wonders and Misamis Oriental is probably the best eco-adventure destination in the Philippines.

The province of Misamis Oriental is undeniably one of the right places to be for those who are after some adventure with nature. It is rich in natural resources, both underwater and on land, and it’s also the gateway to the entirety of Mindanao.

The breathtaking sunsets at the Agutayan Island in Jasaan, the underwater spring at Duka Bay Resort in Medina, the amazing land and underwater activities in The Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort in Balingoan, are just some of the great jump-off points to more than a dozen adventure and diving sites. Misamis Oriental is home to terrific swim and snorkel spots. Good coral growth and strong currents make the waters of Misamis Oriental the ideal habitat for an array of plant and animal marine life.

If you’re also into trekking and some land adventure, there are centuries-old trees at the Lasang Secret Adventure Eco-Tourism Park and breathe some fresh air while learning about the tribal cultures of Mindanao at the Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village.

Misamis Oriental is also a special place for Catholic pilgrims. The Divine Mercy Shrine, located in El Salvador City, has a 50-ft statue of Jesus as the Divine Mercy. Also, Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Cagayan de Oro City lets you cross 9 rivers to get there.

Primavera Encourages Everyone to Take Part in Earth Hour 2015

earth-hour

It’s March 28 and we are hours away from changing the world!

As we celebrate the annual global environment movement at exactly 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm later tonight, Earth Hour is encouraging individuals, communities, households, and business to turn off their lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet.

The Philippines has been participating in the annual Earth Hour since 2009, and has earned the title of “Earth Hour Hero Country” from 2009 to 2013 for topping participation records with over 15 million Filipinos joining the event.

Are you excited to be part of this worldwide activity?

In Cagayan de Oro, the multi-awarded sustainable condominium development, Primavera Residences, fully supports this WWF initiative as a pledge in sustaining the environment. As a committed advocate of nature, we are one with the city in inviting everyone to take part in this fulfilling event.

If you’re wondering how you can celebrate it with your family, there are more ways to contribute in this global event than just switching off your lights at home and in your office. More to that, you can contribute more by being an example and through spreading the word to your word to you friends, family, colleagues and everyone you know off.

To fully enjoy this activity, why not we celebrate it together this evening at SM City CDO? There’ll be fanfare, performances, and lots of fun and entertainment to look forward to. Bring your friends and family and join the countdown to 8:30!

Let’s all be ambassadors of the planet by sustaining Earth Hour in the next days to come. #ChangeClimateChange
