How to help the victims of typhoon Yolanda #reliefph #rescueph #yolandaph

On Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, typhoonYolanda with international name Haiyan slammed into the Visayan islands, decimating trees, homes and people’s lives. It packed winds of 235 kph (147 mph), gusts of up to 275 kph (170 mph), and a storm surge of 6 meters (20 feet).

Hardest hit was Leyte Island. Officials fear about 10,000 died. Most of the victims were in Tacloban, the provincial capital of about 200,000 people.

“The devastation is, I don’t have the words for it,” Interior Secretary Mar Roxas said, according to Reuters. “It’s really horrific. It’s a great human tragedy.”

According to reports, after the storm, dead bodies hung on trees and scattered on sidewalks. Mothers relate stories of their children torn from their arms by strong winds and by the storm surge.

Typhoon Yolanda is possibly the Philippine’s deadliest natural disaster on record.

We still do not have a complete report as many areas in the islands were cut off. Electricity went down and communications was knocked out.

Footage of the devastation showed people in shock, grief-stricken and desperate.

There is no time to waste. We need to help now.

ITALPINAS Eurosian Design and Eco-Development Corporation (ITPI) is committed to help and is working with partner organizations to send relief to affected areas. We shall be posting updates here and on our social media accounts about this.

In the meantime, we urge you to help via the following ways. We are reposting the list of relief operations centers from nationwide to local compiled by Rappler.com.
