Green developer Italpinas Euroasian Design and Eco-Development Corp. (ITPI) reiterated its belief on the need for more sustainable developments in Cagayan de Oro in a recent talk with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) held at the function hall of Primavera Residences. ITPI is the developer of Primavera Residences, the first eco-friendly condo complex in Cagayan de Oro. Last June 7, USAID mission director Gloria Steele, assistant administrator for Asia Denise Rollins and other representatives of the agency visited Primavera Residences as part of its INVEST Project, which seeks to promote economic growth in Cagayan de Oro through investment opportunities.

USAID is an American government agency that provides economic and development assistance to countries around the world. Its funding partner is the Climate Technology Initiative-Private Financing Advisory Network (CTI-PFAN), which provided certification and technical assistance to Primavera Residences.

In his talk, ITPI chairman and CEO Arch. Romolo V. Nati stressed the company’s strong support for Cagayan de Oro as a wise investment opportunity as well as its interest in setting up projects in alternative locations. “We see Cagayan de Oro as a place with a growing opportunity for business. People can work and enjoy life here without going to Metro Manila. It is an ideal alternative location for investments,” said Nati.

“In ITPI, we always do things with the environment in mind. We think about sustainability and the social impact of all our projects and we hope other businesses do the same,” he added.

ITPI’s executive chairman Jose P. Leviste, Jr. was also in attendance and entertained questions from the audience. “As a USAID partner, we certainly benefited from the guidance and continued support of the agency in making our Cagayan de Oro project more viable for investment. Through this partnership, not only did our project boost its competitiveness but it also helped in making it more environmentally sound,” shared Leviste.

The USAID officials were given a quick tour of Primavera Residences and its green facilities led by ITPI VP and General Manager, Cheryll Barriga.

Primavera Residences is a two-tower, 10-storey mixed-use development in Uptown Cagayan de Oro with environment-friendly features. Its exterior walls are fitted with brise soleil shades that protect the windows from harsh sunlight during the hottest part of the day. Soon the building’s rooftop will also be equipped with photovoltaic solar panels to produce its own energy that will power its common areas. Because of these unique features, Primavera Residences won as Best Mixed-Use Development in the Philippines in the recently concluded 2014 Asia Pacific Property Summit organized by the prestigious International Property Awards.
