Primavera Residences Sponsors This Year’s Manresa Days, Awards Dance Contest Winners

 manresa2

Xavier University College of Agriculture annually celebrates Manresa Days to present to the public that agriculture is still our country’s backbone and plays a vital role in our food security and economy. Manresa Farm, located in uptown Cagayan de Oro in front of SM CDO, was open to the public from August 20-24, 2014 to commemorate the annual Manresa Days.

Agriculture majors from different areas in Northern Mindanao and adjacent cities participated in the event, showcasing agricultural products to the public. The highly-anticipated Rodeo sa Ateneo drew in rodeo enthusiasts from Camiguin, Bukidnon and some parts of Mindanao competing along with the rodeo group formed by Xavier University students.

The multi-awarded eco-friendly development Primavera Residences, a major sponsor of the Manresa Days and a staunch advocate of  environment conservation finds itself quite aligned with the community of agriculturists whose concern for the environment is their topmost priority.

During the opening program last August 20, the Manresa Farm Cuadra was crowded with agriculture professors and staff, families and other students who supported their own departments’ groups in the contemporary dance contest.

Three teams competed with each team consisting of 10 members. The teams should be able to interpret the Manresa Days’ theme, Agriculture at the Center, through their dance number.

The following are the competing teams:

After a thorough deliberation from the panel of judges composed of Primavera Sales Executives Gisselle Mantilla and Christina Labatos, team number two rose as this year’s contemporary dance contest winner.

By Kathy Yu and Cesar Stefan Rago

“If all people practice yoga, I believe that we can have the possibility to reduce suffering in the universe,” says the beautiful and fit yogi, Julie.

Julie Bonita Corrales, an American Yoga Alliance – certified yoga instructor from the island of Camiguin, has found contentment, inner peace, and a way to live healthy through yoga.

Julie finds herself grateful to have studied and completed yoga  training from one of the best yoga schools in the United States. She completed her 200-hour RYT certification in New York Yoga at the heart of Upper East Side in Manhattan, New York City.  New York Yoga equipped her with the kind of proficiency that brought not only physical fitness, but a deeper sense of peace and contentment in her life as well. This is the kind of instruction and inspiration that she now brings back to her hometown of Camiguin and to the rest of Northern Mindanao.

The YOGAHOME, her yoga studio in Camiguin which she founded with a yogi partner, is the best venue to change your lifestyle and find peace and relaxation in one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines. She teaches fun and challenging asanas, incorporating yoga philosophy, meditation, and well though-out sequences in her classes. Breathing within that space and finding meaning to every pose, she encourages her students by repeatedly emphasizing the need to revisit our intentions for doing yoga.

“Yoga has changed my life, and I want to share my fascination of the uniquely meditative effects of yoga to motivate and inspire others,” says Julie.

Watch the World Cup at Primavera Residences

Every 4 years, the world turns its eyes on the 32 teams that will be vying for the World Cup. The stage has been set in Brazil, the country with the most wins in the tournament. With that, they are burdened with the greatest of expectations.

But then again, Spain who won it 4 years ago will not give it up without a fight. The cup, the honor, the glory and the pride is up for grabs, with dark horses and strong teams like Italy, Portugal, Germany, Japan and France looming in and doing their best to run away with the win.

Superstars in this generation will be giving their all in the group stages as they progress to the sweet 16. Big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr.,  Mesut Ozil, Andres Iniesta, Mario Balotelli, and Kisuke Honda will leave it all on the pitch as they will definitely try to outshine each other in their journey for the world cup.

This is the beauty of football, where anyone can be the hero at the last minute of the game. A game of two halves, 45 minutes each, and where a single miss or mistake can spell elimination and embarrassment to the team and to the nation they represent. The whole world will be watching and this is the beautiful game, this is the road to immortality. This is the FIFA World Cup.

Will you be watching it this year?

If you are, Primavera Residences, the eco-friendly Italian condo in uptown CDO has opened its doors to the football fans in Cagayan de Oro with a FREE screening of the 2014 World Cup.

In partnership with Parasat cable, football fans who register in advance will be given free snacks at the venue. To pre-register, simply visit the official Primavera Residences Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/CondoPrimavera and send a message with your name, the names of the people who will be coming with you, the time and date of the game you wish to see, and the team you will be rooting for.

Simple Ways to Celebrate Earth Day Everyday

April 22 is Earth Day, and this year’s theme is “ “Earth Day Everyday, Everywhere, for Everyone”. How exactly can we do that in our own little ways?

See our tips below.

We can never be too grateful for whatever nature has to offer us – from the food that we eat to what we wear to the things that we use and the buildings we are in. The earth is so bountiful it can give us anything we need for survival. So, we celebrate Earth Day every April 22 to recognize the bounties of nature and to always remind ourselves that we must play a big part in keeping our earth a healthy place to live in.

Have you been doing your share in nurturing your environment? I bet you have, and I’d also like to share a few simple eco-friendly tips you might like to try.

1. Recycle Office Supplies

Papers, notebooks, and boxes in your office are very useful recyclable materials. Call yourself a hoarder, but keeping scratches of papers, empty boxes and used notebooks can go a long way in saving trees from being cut down. Save blank back portions of scratch papers for printing documents or you can cut them to post-it or notepad sizes for scribbling. Empty boxes can be used for stocking paper files. Smaller cartons can be used for gift packing.

In Japan, many offices already follow the paperless policy where documents are disseminated over the internet or saved in flash drives. Well, if we can’t attain a paperless workplace for now, maybe we’ll have to go with recycling first.

2. Grow Your Own Garden

Try gardening as a hobby and you will probably appreciate the dirt works after seeing your plants grow or grasses grow green and thick on your front lawn. Try planting small trees on the corner lot or at your backyard. Trees provide good supply of oxygen and shade during hot weather. Grow some flower-bearing plants on your front lawn. If you have a bigger lot space, try growing fruit trees. Just learn tips in nurturing them from the internet.

3. Segregate Waste Properly

Here is a very simple yet ironically difficult tip to follow – separating waste accordingly. We have been used to throwing all kinds of trash in a single trash bin, but we don’t realize that by doing so, we make it difficult to help in recycling these garbage. Segregating them properly according to biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste makes it easier to identify which to recycle and reuse.

If you want to try more eco-friendly tips and share them with family or friends, visit and follow the official Primavera Residences Facebook page. The page  regularly posts tips that are very doable and easy to follow. You can try them in your own homes. Your own little ways in saving the earth can go a long way in keeping Mother Earth a better place to live in.

Here are some tips from the Primavera Residences Facebook page.
