Cagayan de Oro Rugby’s Noel Villa: Training Smarter with D.T.A. (Dynamic Training Approach)

noel 2

Passion. Character. Strength.

These three words are what describe best the main man of rugby football in Cagayan de Oro. For Noel Villa, the one man who introduced the remarkable tackling and full-contact sport to Kagay-anons, it’s all about the courage and the determination to pursue his goals and share his advocacies.

Noel has been extensively trained in rugby football in the UK as early as 8 years old, and in this tough sport that combines the use of strength, speed and strategy, he found his calling. Inspired by how this game has taught him discipline and self-control, he moved back to the Philippines and pursue his dream to better the youth through the sport.

After a year of building the Cagayan de Oro Rugby Club from the ground up, Noel’s team now has 30 active rugby players, and it continues to grow with his ‘Get Into Rugby’ program for children, high school and college students – for both men and women alike. Through his leadership and training, the CDO Rugby Club or the CDO Rafters, took home the championship cup in the recent Philippine National Games Rugby 7s Shield Division.

While in the UK for 27 years, aside from playing his favorite sport, rugby, and representing his school and town in various rugby games, Noel also worked as a personal trainer and Body Conditioning Coach.

With his extensive background in sports, coaching, and fitness training, Noel also shares his expertise in DTA or Dynamic Training Approach, a specialized training approach that focuses on body sculpting, strength training, and sports conditioning. His years of working with some of the world’s top fitness professionals, athletes, and strength coaches make him your perfect partner in achieving your fitness goals.

Catch coach Noel Villa this coming July 26, 4:30PM as he talks about how to train smart with Dynamic Training Approach, and see how you too can achieve your ideal weight and fitness level.

Primavera Wellness Day, July 26, will also feature a wellness talk by Chef Ivy Trapero of the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro at 3PM, a free wellness evaluation for all participants, and a yoga party finale with Ms. Julie Bonita Corrales of The YOGAHOME. All this is happening at the multi-purpose hall of Primavera Residences.

Five Reasons for Celebrating the Best Mixed-Use Development in the Philippines Award

Primavera with award logo-3

We at Primavera Residences are honored and humbled from having won the Best Mixed-Use Development in the Philippines Award at the 2014-2015 Asia Pacific Property Summit of the International Property Awards last month in Kuala Lumpur. The award from such a prestigious global award-giving body recognizes not just us but also all our partners and stakeholders.

We believe that it created another world-class avenue for us to do greater things for the people of Cagayan de Oro and the Philippines. We are determined to pioneer sustainable real estate development in the country because we believe it provides much-needed value and because it is what we need to alleviate the rising cost of energy, environmental degradation, and increasingly congested and poor quality of urban living.

With your help, we can make a difference. The five reasons for celebrating the award is therefore ‘you,’ friends and partners whose support helped us win the award.

THE PEOPLE OF CAGAYAN DE ORO AND NEIGHBORING CITIES The award strengthens the position of Cagayan de Oro as an emerging world-class city and of Northern Mindanao as an economic hub and strategic entry-point to Mindanao.

INVESTORS Unit buyers and financing partners are reassured of the quality and value of the property they are investing in. One of the major criteria of the award is the profitability of the development.

REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY PARTNERS The award validates that sustainable development in the country is finally catching on and getting the attention it deserves. The efforts of brokers, sales agents and other partners in the real estate industry are helping educate the country of the rewards, benefits and value of a truly eco-friendly property (energy-efficient, affordable, self-sustaining, and environment-friendly).

MEDIA PARTNERS With the influence of our media partners, the industry and market are made aware and can benefit from the best practices of eco-development. We’re not doing this just for ourselves, we want to spread the word and encourage more people to invest in or go into sustainable property development that works with nature instead of against it.

LOCAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STAKEHOLDERS We share the same mission and vision and that is to build a better Earth through a more sustainable lifestyle and one that is designed to adapt to a changing world.

As Atty. Jojo Leviste, the president of Italpinas Euroasian Design and Eco-Development Corporation (ITPI), developer of Primavera Residences, says, “We may not become the biggest in terms of size, but we want to become thought leaders. We see environmental design and urban planning as a matter of rights and not as a matter of luxury.”

Arch. Romolo V. Nati, ITPI CEO, adds, “That Primavera Residences was recognized as the Best Mixed-Use Development in the Philippines by the International Property Awards is a guaranty of our commitment to produce environmentally sound designs and energy efficient buildings that can be enjoyed by a wide range of Filipinos.”

To all our partners, we can’t thank you enough! You are all the reason we are pushing ourselves to develop world-class communities that are your partners in growth.

The Art of Arranging Flowers and Maximizing Space: Creative Workshops at the Prima de Mayo Event

prima de mayo1

On May 24, Primavera Residences, together with Truly Wealthy Realty Corporation, hosted two workshops to highlight the event dubbed “Prima de Mayo”.

These creative workshops covered the art of flower arrangement and interior designing and were conducted by a professionally licensed interior designer Ms. Anna Christina Sagarbarria. Ms. Sagarbarria gained her expertise from The Philippine School of Interior Design, the country’s premier interior design institution.

DSC_6790

I had the chance to witness the flower arrangement workshop, and I really appreciate and admire the way she does her craft. Given the limited timeslot, she was able to manage squeezing in the basic essentials of what we need to learn as flower arranging newbies.

DSC_6799

Set up at the green inner courtyard of Primavera Residences, Ms. Anna showcased her materials consisting of a variety of beautiful flowers, and vases of different shapes and sizes. Her talk started with a discussion of the basic color theory, stressing out that it is important to know the basic colors and its primary combinations.

Then, we learned a few basics in harmonizing colors:

Monochromatic

prima de mayo2

From the term ‘mono’ meaning single, and ‘chromo’ or color, this is the application of a single color type. When it’s yellow, it’s yellow and nothing else.

Analogous

prima de mayo3

This is a combination of two or three colors which are side by side on the color wheel, such as blue-green, yellow-green, yellow-orange. So, on your vase, you can have a single color of flowers of three different hues.

Complementary

A combination of any two colors which are right across each other on the color wheel is complementary. A good example is yellow and blue.

Triadic

According to Ms. Chri, this color harmony can be tricky for flower arrangement. If not carefully chosen and arranged, the result can be a huge cluttered, disheveled look. From the term itself, triadic combination uses any three colors from the color wheel that form a triangle. Blue-purple-red is triadic example.

The choice of vase for your flowers is also an important consideration to make. Yet more importantly, it’s the way you arrange the flowers and the color combination that makes or breaks it. Our adept speaker showed us a single type of flower in monochromatic color placed in both a country or rustic styled vase and a formal vase, and the desired effects were perfectly achieved.

She made sure to emphasize having fun in arranging flowers, just as what we had during the entire one hour workshop.

The second leg of her workshop is about maximizing space, a two-hour crash course in interior designing for small spaces. The audience was all ears, eager to learn really good tips that they can apply in their home and office spaces. Her tips were especially useful to those living in condos such as the multi-awarded premier condominium building, Primavera Residences.

Watch out for more fun workshops coming soon in Primavera Residences!

How to Enjoy Summer in Cagayan de Oro

Who doesn’t love summer? I guess everyone does. Even Olaf from Frozen loves summer! While we’re now in the middle of our favorite part of the year, surely you must have planned your summer vacations and outings with families and friends. When in Cagayan de Oro, there’s more to spending summer differently than simply going to beaches and summer parties.

So, here are my top 3 recommendations on how to enjoy summer in CDO.

Forest Park Escapade

dahilayan
Photo taken from dahilayanadventurepark.com

Of course, summer is never complete without hitting the beach or the pool. For a change, try going off to the forest. Yes, to the forest, and no, not the kind of forest you are thinking. There’s a famous forest park up the mountains called Dahilayan Forest Park where you and your friends can definitely have loads of fun with activities that would dare you to conquer your fears. Dahilayan Forest Park boasts of Asia’s longest dual zipline so you can experience how it is to fly like Superman. When you can’t get enough of Zipzone, try something more daring like doing a freefall with their Dropzone adventure.

White Water Rafting Adventure

rapids
I didn’t miss to experience the rapids with my friends! (original photo)

You would never want to miss the white water rafting adventure in summer when in CDO. If you love the great outdoors, this one’s a perfect summer adventure alongside your forest park escapade. You get to brave the river rapids of Cagayan River aboard a raft good for 6 to 10 persons. Your river guide can challenge you with little surprises (like capsizing your raft!) on your journey so better be ready.

Summer Coolers Only in CDO

Milk teas, coolers and ice cream! These coolers simply complete summer break! Here in CDO, here is the list of summer coolers I highly recommend:

  • La Favorita Homemade Freshmilk Ice Cream

A popular local ice cream brand called La Favorita that is so irresistibly delicious. Their avocado flavor is the bestseller. A little pricey, but it’s worth the price!

  • Chinkee Tea

If you want more of tasty summer coolers in CDO, Chinkee Tea is the place to be. Brimming with a variety of milk tea flavors, you can already spend a cozy summer afternoon chat with your friends at this lovely tea house. My favorite choice is always the wintermelon milk tea, with tapioca pearls and ice cream as add-ons.

  • Cool Down Beverages
Thai Me Up’s Love Potion coolers Photo credits: Judee Chaves-Dizon

bourbon coolers

Two summer quenchers you wouldn’t want to miss trying: Thai Me Up’s coolers and Bourbon Bistro’s coolers! You can take them with you in your summer activities. They’re real thirst quenchers!

Enjoy the sun and the tan lines and the warm breeze! Enjoy your summer while it lasts!
