Italpinas Euroasian Design and Eco-Development Corp. (ITPI), a Filipino-Italian property development firm specializing in sustainable architecture and design, has joined the region’s project developers and clean energy experts in the upcoming 9th Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) 2014. Organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), US Agency for International Development (USAID) and World Energy Council, the forum starts from June 16 to 20 and aims to gather policy makers and clean energy experts to share the best practices in the industry. ITPI’s chairman and CEO Arch. Romolo V. Nati is slated to share his own experience on sustainable development on June 19. The forum will be held at the ADB Headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

ACEF 2014 will cover panel discussions, plenary sessions and deep dive workshops on various topics such as off-grid renewable energy, innovative approaches to clean energy projects, as well as the challenges facing the industry today. The fourth day of the forum will include a session on sourcing finance for clean energy projects by SMEs. The session is organized in partnership with the Private Finance Advisory Network (PFAN), a global organization initiated by the Climate Technology Initiative (CTI) that helps promising businesses find funding for clean energy projects.

ITPI’s first project, Primavera Residences, a green mixed-use development in Cagayan de Oro, will be presented as a case study during this session. The company’s development projects are supported by CTI-PFAN in partnership with USAID and ADB.

“CTI-PFAN has been one of our active supporters and we are pleased to be a part of this session and share with the audience our innovative approach on sustainable development as well as the challenges we faced when we started our projects,” said Nati.

Primavera Residences is an award-winning, eco-friendly condo complex located in Uptown Cagayan de Oro. Its green features include photovoltaic solar panels that will be fitted on the building’s rooftop to produce its own energy. Because of its green features, it recently won in the 2014 Asia Pacific Property Awards for Best Mixed-Use Development in the Philippines. In 2010, the property was cited by CTI-PFAN as one of the promising clean energy investment opportunities in the Philippines during the Philippine Clean Energy Investor Forum.

Primavera Residences Developer Welcomes USAID Arrival as it Pushes for more Sustainable Developments in Cagayan de Oro

USAID visit

Green developer Italpinas Euroasian Design and Eco-Development Corp. (ITPI) reiterated its belief on the need for more sustainable developments in Cagayan de Oro in a recent talk with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) held at the function hall of Primavera Residences. ITPI is the developer of Primavera Residences, the first eco-friendly condo complex in Cagayan de Oro. Last June 7, USAID mission director Gloria Steele, assistant administrator for Asia Denise Rollins and other representatives of the agency visited Primavera Residences as part of its INVEST Project, which seeks to promote economic growth in Cagayan de Oro through investment opportunities.

USAID is an American government agency that provides economic and development assistance to countries around the world. Its funding partner is the Climate Technology Initiative-Private Financing Advisory Network (CTI-PFAN), which provided certification and technical assistance to Primavera Residences.

In his talk, ITPI chairman and CEO Arch. Romolo V. Nati stressed the company’s strong support for Cagayan de Oro as a wise investment opportunity as well as its interest in setting up projects in alternative locations. “We see Cagayan de Oro as a place with a growing opportunity for business. People can work and enjoy life here without going to Metro Manila. It is an ideal alternative location for investments,” said Nati.

“In ITPI, we always do things with the environment in mind. We think about sustainability and the social impact of all our projects and we hope other businesses do the same,” he added.

ITPI’s executive chairman Jose P. Leviste, Jr. was also in attendance and entertained questions from the audience. “As a USAID partner, we certainly benefited from the guidance and continued support of the agency in making our Cagayan de Oro project more viable for investment. Through this partnership, not only did our project boost its competitiveness but it also helped in making it more environmentally sound,” shared Leviste.

The USAID officials were given a quick tour of Primavera Residences and its green facilities led by ITPI VP and General Manager, Cheryll Barriga.

ITALPINAS Euro Asian Design and Eco-Development Corporation (ITPI), a company involved in real estate investment development, architectural and design eco services, will discuss sustainable and green building at the upcoming CTI-PFAN Philippines Clean Energy Financing Forum 2013.

The forum, organized by the  Climate Technology Initiative’s Private Financing Advisory Network, will be held on November 21 at the Isabela Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-la.

Fast becoming a leader in sustainable development and green building technologies, ITPI will also discuss its ongoing green developments, including Primavera Residences, a 10-storey condominium in Cagayan de Oro City.

Primavera incorporates several sustainable features, including a portion of its energy needs sourced from solar panels found on its roof, as well as a geo-cooling system and a shadow-cooling system, among others.

Italian architect Romolo V. Nati, ITPI’s Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer will speak about these features during session four of the forum, which focuses on sustainable business models.

Other sessions will tackle:

  • Increasing the competitiveness of the sugar milling sector by adopting energy efficiency and renewable energy
  • Improving the livestock sector by promoting biogas to meet national wastewater regulations, lower the cost of meat production by using electricity generated from livestock waste and develop additional revenue streams like organic fertilizer production

During the forum, the Electric Vehicle Expansion Enterprises, Inc. (EVEEI) will also present its electric jeepney operations as one sustainable business model, while Strategen Consulting LLC will speak about its waste management solution for the fruit processing sector as another sustainable business model.

Supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), CTI-PFAN is a global program dedicated to helping clean energy project developers find sources of financing.

Thus, one forum session will also involve how start-ups can tap sources of clean energy financing — including Ayala Foundation and USAID’s Development Credit Authority — as well as complementary financing schemes appropriate for each stage of a company’s maturity.

The Forum will provide a networking space for one-on-one meeting sessions with clean energy project developers, financing institutions, investors, and other USAID programs.
